Angel Wings

There are many ways to make angel wings for costume party fancy dress. Big thick wings are popular with cosplay and costume parties. Makeing these types of wings takes a lot of work. Some of the tools you need to make them include PVC pipes, a heat gun, expanding foam, muslin, plastic sheets, gloves, and wire. The harness should be built first so that you can duct tape the harness to a chair and apply your wings on the chair.

The bain skeleton of the wing is made out of PVC pipes that you can obtain from any tool shop such as B and Q. It has the advantages of being light but strong at the same time, and it is also very cheap.

A heat gun (also available from the high street) is needed to heat up the PVC pipe in order to make it curve. The angel wings need to ben and not be straight for best costume effect, but not bent so much that the PVC becomes weak or cracked.

Expanding foam is used to make the shape of the wing. This expands when it hardens and it creates a light but robust foam. You can fortify this with wire. Gloves are needed to keep you hands clean.

The surface for the foam to rest on is made out of muslin supported with duck tape. Wire is wrapped around the PVC in a net structure in order to hold the Muslin into place. The foam is poured over the muslin and spread out as you are pouring. This will expand and then harded. It does not need to be smooth because the features will cover it up. Continue with the foaming process until the wing shape is complete and cut away any excess with a penknife and sandpaper. For best theatrical effect, the foam should be painted white with a can of white spray paint.

Feathers can be optained from pillow cases. Turkey features are the best. Use hot glue to attach the feathers. You should work your way from bottom up to the top, and you'll need to do this on the inside and outside of the wing.

Fancy Dress Costumes

The wearing of fancy dress costumes is popular around holidays and festivals as Mardi Gras and Halloween, Christmas and Easter. Face paints are an important part of dressing up. Professional face paint and stage makeup can be expensive, particularly if you're painting a whole kids party's worth of faces. Don't leave them around where people can get hold of them and try them out for themselves. Try out different types of paint to see which you find the best for working with, such as paint in tubs or paint in stick form.

If you're wanting to cover a large area or put on a base color, use a sponge to apply the paint rather than a brush, it'll be quicker. Having a different sponge for different colors eliminates the necessity of washing out the sponge during a "face painting" session. Let the first color dry before applying a second. If you don't, they'll mix and you'll probably have to wipe it off and start again. Also, rather than applying one thick layer of paint, which may crack, apply a thin layer, let it dry, then apply another. Know what you're going to face paint before you start, don't make it up as you go along. Kids aren't known for their patience and won't be able to sit still why you ponder what to do next. Have a basic face design fixed in your mind; you can always add special touches to this once you're finished. The paint you're using will work as basic glue. To create bumpy noses or big eyebrows, soak a bit of cotton wool in the paint, place on face, cover with a piece of tissue, and paint. Puffed rice or wheat make ideal warts; simply cover with a bit of tissue and paint. For an extra-ghostly effect, apply a light dusting of flour once you've finished painting the face.
